Temple situated in Trichambaram village near Taliparamba of Kannur district. Dharmasastha is a deity who was first worshiped by the Dravidians, later by the Buddhists and finally by the Hindus. Dharmasastha is worshiped mainly in South India.
Parasurama, the creator of Kerala, had installed Dharma Sastav, the demon lord, and Varahamurthy to save Kerala from foreigners. Legend has it that this deity, who is a combination of Saiva and Vaishnavism and represents Saturn, resides in Garudhadri near Kailasa with his wives Poorna and Pushkala. It was to this sage that Parasurama performed penance and presented the burden of salvation of Kerala.
There are Sastha deities in various forms. Childhood, adolescence, youth, wives Poorna Pushkala, wife Prabha, son Satyakan, ascetic (Ayyappan), Vidya Sastha, Vaidyanatha and many more. Although there are many idols of nectar bowl in the right hand, the Padmasana shaped idol is found only in the Palakulangara Sridharmasastha temple. (Trichambaram, Taliparamba)

Such a specialty is with the diety of Palakulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple. The ldol here is rare & only one of its type in the whole world.
This beautiful temple with a rich history is connected with Trichambaram Sree Krishna Temple & worshiped for the last many decades.
The Idol here is that of Sree Dharma Sastha, holding an Amrithakalasa (Jar with Nectar) on right hand and sitting in Padmasanam concept (Sankalpam). The deity is the son of Dhanwantharamoorthy (Vishnu) and Vaidyanathan (Shiva) and beleived to be the healer of all diseases as well as the promoter of prosperity.
This Temple is under Malabar Devaswom Board. Temple is not accepting any Management fund from Malabar Devaswom Board. Daily Expenses including the Salary to the staffs are borne from the temple income earned through the devotees offerings.
Since last March due to pandemic situation and restriction for devotees to enter the temple, the income to the temple is almost nil.
Regular devotees who offer vows & prayers since decades too is not coming forward. (Have to exempt Mr. Bharath Kumar, Hema Bharath Kumar, Pranav Bharath Kumar.)
Without any income (due to this pandemic) has become a huge challenge before us causing sleepless night to maintain and take care of the Temple.

കേരളത്തിന്റെ സ്രഷ്ടാവായ പരശുരാമൻ കേരളത്തെ വിദേശികളിൽ നിന്ന് രക്ഷിക്കാൻ ധർമ്മശാസ്താവിനെയും വരാഹമൂർത്തിയെയും പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ശൈവ-വൈഷ്ണവ സങ്കലനവും ശനിയെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്നതുമായ ഈ ദേവൻ തന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരായ പൂർണ്ണ, പുഷ്കല എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം കൈലാസത്തിനടുത്തുള്ള ഗരുധാദ്രിയിൽ കുടികൊള്ളുന്നുവെന്നാണ് ഐതിഹ്യം.
എല്ലാ പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും ആഴത്തിലുള്ള സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്. ഇന്ത്യയിലുടനീളമുള്ള ക്ഷേത്ര പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുടെ ഉദ്ദേശ്യം ഒന്നുതന്നെയാണെങ്കിലും ചില ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ അതുല്യമാണ്..
സവിശേഷമായ ആചാരങ്ങളുള്ള ശബരിമല ക്ഷേത്രത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് നമുക്കറിയാം, പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുടെ പ്രതീകം അതുല്യമാണ്.
മലബാർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ കീഴിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. മലബാർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിൽ നിന്ന് ക്ഷേത്രം മാനേജ്‌മെന്റ് ഫണ്ട് സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നില്ല. ജീവനക്കാർക്കുള്ള ശമ്പളമുൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള ദൈനംദിന ചെലവുകൾ ഭക്തർ നടത്തുന്ന വഴിപാടുകൾ വഴി ലഭിക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്ര വരുമാനത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ്.
പകർച്ചവ്യാധി സാഹചര്യവും ഭക്തർക്ക് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നിയന്ത്രണവും കാരണം കഴിഞ്ഞ മാർച്ച് മുതൽ, ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്കുള്ള വരുമാനം ഏതാണ്ട് പൂജ്യമാണ്.
