Pampumekkattu Mana Pampumekkattu Mana is located in the village of Vadama, 11 km from Chalakudy in Thrissur district. Pampumekkadu Mana is a famous serpent worship center in Kerala. It is believed that only the members of the Mekkattu family has the right to conduct Sarpabali. From the first of Vrishchikam to 41 days, Sarpabali is conducted as a special offering every evening. Other than this, the Bali is conducted on chosen days decided by the Mana. During Mandalakalam (41 days from Vrishchikam 1), 'Kalamezhuthum Pattum' is conducted. These days they can enter anywhere except the 'Kizhakkini'. The devotees have to take bath in the pond and enter the 'Kavu' with wet body and clothes.
പാമ്പുമേക്കാട്ട് മന തൃശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ചാലക്കുടിയിൽ നിന്ന് 11 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ വടമ ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് പാമ്പുമേക്കാട്ട് മന. പാമ്പുമേക്കാട് മന കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ സർപ്പ ആരാധന കേന്ദ്രമാണ്. പാമ്പുകടിയേറ്റവർ ധാരാളമുണ്ട്. ജാതകത്തിലെ രാഹു കേതുവിന്റെ ദോഷങ്ങളും വാസസ്ഥാനവുമായി (താമസസ്ഥലം) ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ദോഷങ്ങളാലും പലർക്കും ക്ലേശങ്ങളും രോഗങ്ങളും അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നു. പാമ്പുംമേക്കാട് മന സർപ്പനാശം മുതലായ പാപങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള എല്ലാ പരിഹാരക്രിയകളും ചെയ്യുന്നു. കുട്ടികളില്ലാത്ത ദമ്പതികൾ ഇവിടെ വന്ന് പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുകയും കുട്ടികളുണ്ടാകുകയും ചെയ്ത അനുഭവങ്ങൾ നിരവധിയാണ്. പ്രസവത്തിനായി ദമ്പതികൾ ഇവിടെ വന്ന് കുട്ടികളുണ്ടായാൽ മാതളനാരങ്ങ കൊണ്ട് തൂക്കാം എന്ന് പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കണം. ഇവിടുത്തെ വിശേഷ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് വൃശ്ചികം. കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു പുതിയ അംഗം ചുമതലയേൽക്കുന്ന ദിവസം കൂടിയാണിത്. ഈ ദിവസമാണ് നാഗരാജാവായ വാസുകി അവതരിച്ചത്. വൃശ്ചികം ഒന്നിന് വയലിന് പാട്ടും നടത്തും. ഇവിടെ അഞ്ച് ഗുഹകളുണ്ട്. കിഴക്ക്, ഒരു തൂക്കുവിളക്ക് മെഴുകുതിരിയായി സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. ദിവസവും രാവിലെ വിളക്കോടെയുള്ള പൂജ. വിളക്കിൽ നിന്ന് എടുക്കുന്ന വെളിച്ചെണ്ണ കണ്ണിന് ഇമ്പമുള്ളതാണ്. മിഥുനം, കർക്കിടകം, ചിങ്ങം എന്നിവ ഒഴികെയുള്ള മലയാളമാസത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ദിവസമാണ് മനസ്സിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നത്
അമാവാസി ദിനത്തിലും. തിരുവോണം മുതൽ മീനത്തിലെ ഭരണി വരെയുള്ള ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ. മേടം 10-നും എല്ലാ ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾക്കും മനയിലെ എല്ലാ കാവുകളിലും പ്രവേശനം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും. രാവിലെ 9 മണി മുതൽ വൈകുന്നേരം 5 മണി വരെയാണ് ഇത് തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രത്യേക അവസരങ്ങൾ 1. വൃശ്ചികമാസത്തിലെ ആദ്യ (നവംബർ പകുതി). 2. കന്നി മാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യം (സെപ്റ്റംബർ പകുതി-ഒക്ടോബർ പകുതി). 3. മീനമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവോണം മുതൽ ഭരണി വരെ (മാർച്ച് പകുതി മുതൽ ഏപ്രിൽ പകുതി വരെ). 4. മേടം മാസത്തിലെ പത്താം (ഏപ്രിൽ പകുതി). മേക്കാട്ടു മനയിലെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥലം വൃശ്ചികത്തിലെ ആദ്യത്തേതാണ്. ആ ദിവസം സർപ്പദേവന്മാരുടെയും എല്ലാ നാഗദൈവങ്ങളുടെയും ഉത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാ സർപ്പദേവനും അന്നേ ദിവസം ചുണ്ണാമ്പും (കാൽസ്യം ഓക്സൈഡും) പാലും നൽകി പ്രസാദിക്കുന്നു. മേക്കാട്ടുകുടുംബത്തിലെ അംഗങ്ങൾക്ക് മാത്രമേ സർപ്പബലി നടത്താൻ അവകാശമുള്ളൂ എന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. വൃശ്ചികം ഒന്ന് മുതൽ 41 ദിവസം വരെ എല്ലാ ദിവസവും വൈകുന്നേരം വിശേഷാൽ വഴിപാടായി സർപ്പബലി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇതുകൂടാതെ, മന തീരുമാനിക്കുന്ന ദിവസങ്ങളിലാണ് ബലി നടത്തുന്നത്. മണ്ഡലകാലത്തിൽ (വൃശ്ചികം 1 മുതൽ 41 ദിവസം) 'കളമെഴുത്തും പാട്ടും' നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. പുള്ളുവൻപാട്ടല്ല സർപ്പപ്പാട്ട് മാത്രമാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്. സാധാരണ ഉയർന്ന ജാതിയിലുള്ളവരെ മാത്രമേ കാവിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കൂ. എന്നാൽ വിശേഷ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ എല്ലാ ജാതിയിലും പെട്ട ആളുകൾക്ക് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ വരാം. ഈ ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ അവർക്ക് കിഴക്കിനി ഒഴികെ എവിടെയും പ്രവേശിക്കാം. കുളത്തിൽ കുളിച്ച് നനഞ്ഞ ശരീരവും വസ്ത്രങ്ങളുമായി ഭക്തർ 'കാവിലേക്ക്' പ്രവേശിക്കണം.
